Sarah-Jane Blake wrote and produced a play, During secondary education, which was performed outdoors in an abandoned theatre. The use of space and the possibilities for the performer within that arena, crystallised her interest in performance and theatre design
Sarah-Jane graduated from Bristol University in 2005 with a BA (Hons) in drama. During that time she was involved in a number of devised and written productions including crave by Sarah Kane and a nine-hour performance investigating the aftermath of a global warming disaster. Sarah-Jane was also involved in writing and producing a few short films. Her dissertation, based on voyeurism, concluded with the creation of a giant peepshow, which sparked some controversy.
Following university she embarked upon the motley theatre design course where she further developed her unique and raw style of design and continued to fuel her passion for performance.
