25 September Artist Bio - Alexa Reid

Alexa Reid trained at The Oxford School of Drama, Goldsmiths College, London, and has recently completed an MA in Scenography at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
Recent works include a performance installation developed from Sophocles Antigone at Walworth Council Chambers, London, lithopedion allotment dirt-nap tattoo, at the Bonington Gallery, Nottingham (EXPO ’05), Drabina Jakuba, Cricoteca, Krakow, Poland, and Tumor Foderato d’Infanzia, Teatro Garibaldi, Palermo, Sicily.
A founding member of LOTOS, Alexa has been involved with various projects including an installation-based performance Homebound, developed for a 3-story house, The Last Ortolan, Nolia’s Gallery, Missing a short horror-film, shot in a site-specific residential space, all London, and Red Point, a film shot in Prague
Alexa’s work specifically examines the body as a locus of regeneration and degeneration. Recent practice based research has examined the potential for ‘corpse performance’, developed through onsite research at the Capuchin Catacombs, Palermo. Her work focuses on developing a ‘total’ immersive experience for the audience through installation-based performance, live art, film/animation, spatial design, and theatre.
